Vaccination = Hugs

It had been 14 long months since I saw and had a hug in person with my daughter Nikki and my granddaughter Rozlin. I Facetimed with them on a regular basis but its just not the same. So I got both of my vaccinations, waited the 14 days (ok, 13 days, but close enough) and flew to Los Angeles. Nikki picked me up at the airport and met me at Baggage Claim. I threw my arms around her and it was a very nice long hug. We stopped for fish tacos and then drove to a photo shoot that she was doing in Torrance. She was shooting at a Tai Kwan Do studio. The shoot was for Women Empowerment and Self Defense. It turned out really well.

Next, we drove over to Silver Lake Area and picked up Rozlin at day care. I have a great video of our reunion, it is on my Facebook page. I’m going to try to figure out how to get it here but in case I don’t, check it out there. She and I gave each other extra special hugs and then talked all the way home. Franklin, Nikki’s boyfriend and Roz’s Dad, made dinner that night. He knows that I love Rack of Lamb and that is what he made. He really is a very good cook.

Nikki has two dogs. Olivia, who is a Brussels Griffon and Eddie who is a Brussels mix. She has had “Livie” for quite a few years now and she rescued Eddie from an abusive home. Eddie is a sweet little guy who is actually a little older than Olivia and had to have his eye removed not too long ago. He is having some other health issues now, but they go for a walk a few times a day.

Olivia is the gold one and Eddie in front.

We stayed pretty much close to home, still during the pandemic, but I got to have quality time with my family in Los Angeles. I gave Rozlin some of my old costume jewelry and she looked in the mirror and said “Oh My God, I’m so beautiful.” We also had some bike lessons in the house and fashion parades too.

Not ready to remove the training wheels yet, in the house anyway
Blowing kisses as she models the nightgown our friend Dee Dee made for her.

One of Nikki’s favorite possessions was my Mom’s (her Grandma’s) rocking chair. I remember sitting on her lap when I was 13 and Nikki used to get rocked in that chair too. Well, it was purchased in the 1960’s so it was rather old and I sat in it and some of the slats started coming out. (The quarentine 30…EGADS) Anyway, we shoved the slats back in and put it out on the street, but took a quick photo to remember it by. When we returned, someone decided they would like to love it for awhile.

On my last day there Nikki had to work and Roz went back to school (Daycare). I walked over to my favorite place by Nikki’s house “The Farmers Market” on Third and Fairfax.

On my way back from the Farmers Market I stopped at Trader Joes for a few things for that nights dinner. So with a bag in hand and my purse I walked back to their place. I almost made it and I tripped on some uneven asphalt and landed badly in the middle of the street. A large knot appeared on my knee, my hand was bleeding and my breasts took the brunt of the fall……as they always do !

I got home on a Tuesday and on Wednesday I got a text from my daughter that she has a stomach ache and could barely stand up. I told her to not wait and get to a Doctor. She did and found out she had acute appendicitis. By the time they got her hooked up to a scanner, the appendix burst. She was hospilitized for 4 days and given an IV of antibiotics and shots of blood thinner to the abdomen. She goes back in a few weeks to have the appendix taken out. Poor baby, she was in so much pain. Here she is when she was finally allowed some food..

She was released on Easter and speaking of Easter, here is a picture of Roz with the bunny ears and stuffed dog I got her. By the way, she named the dog Blue Ruff Ruff.

What a great trip and this is why we get vaccinated so that we can hug and hold our family. I hope you all had a very Happy Easter……..next stop Turlock to visit our Grandson Lucas that we haven’t seen since before Christmas.
