We arrived in Templeton which is basically Paso Robles. We took two vehicles……Grandpa and the “girls” and Grandma and the Grandkids. As you can see above Lucas is ready to get out of the truck and Rozlin has a bunch of car snacks in her mouth. Let the games begin!
Our first meal there was Homemade Chicken Nuggets and Homemade Macaroni and Cheese. We employed the kids help on all the meals and they love it.

The next morning was the 4th of July and we started out by giving Lucas and Rozlin’s presents from Grandpa’s Birthday Cruise. We went to Slovenia and brought back matching T-shirts and Dragons. They loved the dragons. Roz named hers “Snowy” and Lucas named his “Fire King”. We also had a belated birthday present exchange from Roz, Nikki and Franklin to Lucas, Jon and I. Nikki handmade a puppet for Lucas and Jon got a big Dill coffee cup and a pickle wine stopper. Also some other very nice gifts for us…..shirts, skin care and an eye massager for me to help with migraines. Anyway all very fun stuff.
So it was time to go to the parade. We drove into town, which was very quaint and coastal even though the coast was about 15 minutes over the mountain. We found a decent spot to sit and got set up. The parade participants threw candy to the kids and we collected quite a bit. Here are a few pics of the parade.
After the parade we went back to the house for some fun and games and water balloon action. Grandpa filled 500 water balloons and they all got soaked. The dinner for tonight was making homemade pizza and for dessert Root beer floats. We discovered that Lucas loved them and Roz not so much.
After dinner we played Bocce Ball, which is an Italian yard game. Grandpa and I read up on the rules and we proceeded to play……that is until a swarm of mosquitos decided to join us, then in the house we went.
The last day of our vacation was the “Beach Day”. We drove over the mountain to Cambria which is about a 20 minute drive, especially if you go the right way. I took a left instead of a right so it took a little longer……Anyway……Grandpa made some Fried Chicken for a picnic and some other yummy things and we found a good spot on Moonstone Beach. It was only 65 degrees there and in Templeton it was 104!!
We went back to the house and the Owner told us to feel free to use his pool. Didn’t have to tell us twice. The kids were very happy.
Our last night for dinner was BBQ’ed steak and corn on the cob and french fries. We all cut the corn off the cob, added butter and salt and pepper and proceeded to call it “Corn Heaven” After this yummy dinner we played cards again. Grandpa and I both grew up playing cards with our families, especially on vacation so we want to continue the tradition. We then settled in for some TV time on the couch. I just love this picture.
And that my friends and family was our first vacation with both of our Grandchildren.
Here’s to many more to come over the years. We love you two so much !!!!!
