Thelma – A Tribute

Our dear, sweet Thelma crossed the Rainbow Bridge on January 31, 2026. She was the best and easily one of the hardest goodbyes ever. I fell in love with her the moment I saw her picture in the paper. She and Louise were born in Galt on a farm. There were 14 in the litter of puppies. We knew we wanted two and Jon picked out Louise. We brought them home on November 19, 2013. They were born on October 3rd. They were the babies Jon and I never had. Yes, they were spoiled rotten and got to sleep with us on our bed but they were and are family and always will be. Here are a few early pictures of them. If you are unsure, Thelma has the white chin.

The day we picked her up in Galt.

We took them on many camping trips, some to Lake Amador, Half Moon Bay, Bodega Bay, and Truckee up in the mountains. They both loved it but Thelma was most happy when she was laying on something soft, like a couch or a bed. When we would go camping we would keep them attached to their leashes but when she wanted to go to bed we would unzip the tent and unleash her and off she would go. That was her happy place. Here are some of our camping experiences with “the girls”.

12 years goes by quickly when you are in love and being loved unconditionally. I miss her so much. She had such a beautiful soul. Jon said the other day that she “would be found” (from the musical Evan Hansan) when she crossed the bridge…. souls that have gone before us would be there to greet her with open arms and love.

I’ll close with a few more pictures of my beloved Thelma. She had many nicknames, Telmer Fudd, Da Tel, and Miss Thelma. My favorite was baby girl. She was mine!

Our little family…..our girls.
