When we were living in England we took a trip to Wales for our 20th wedding anniversary. On our way back to London we decided to drive over to Stonehenge. We knew that was one place we wanted to see before we moved back home to California. We had a rental car that weekend so we came upon Stonehenge from a distance. It looked really small. It reminded me of how tiny the Las Vegas Strip looks from the air and then when you are walking on Las Vegas Blvd. it is so big and magical. This is big and magical up close too.
Upon reaching the Stones we came upon a group of Druids……
Why do they picket you ask? I wan’t sure, so I googled it! Apparently the man pictured above is King Arthur Pendragon, a senior Druid and he is calling for the reburial of Neolithic remains that are on display at Stonehenge. When you arrive there and park your vehicle or get out of your tour bus, you cross under the road and emerge on the other side where the actual stones are. Mr. Pendragon is head of the Loyal Arthurian Warband and he feels that the displaying of the bones in the passage way is like a Victorian Peep show. So now we know. Here are some close up and beautiful pictures of one of the Seven Wonders of the World.
If you are ever in the area, and no matter your beliefs, it is a magical spot and I highly encourage you to go.
