No, this is not a political statement, it is just a different anagram making FUN of a particular political statement.

This stands for Making Outdoor Wine Bars Great Again!

We have always liked wine, but in the beginning we only drank white wine. One year we discovered Pinot Grigio and thought THIS is it! Then we took a trip to France and found ourselves having a 2 hour lunch with wine like the locals. Not white wine though. Red…..and it was slightly chilled. That opened up a whole new world. (Cue Disney music) Anyway, we started going to wine tastings, enjoying many different wines with friends and never becoming wine snobs, but we know now what we like.

We bought a new home last year and there was a large patch of dirt in the middle of the yard. I would assume the previous owners used it to raise vegetables. We decided it was the perfect place to build an outdoor wine bar. So we have been working on a time-lapse video to commemorate our hard work. We started on the bar in August of 2019 and we are two-thirds of the way done now in February of 2020. Our friends have helped along the way and when we do christen our bar, they will be the first people to imbibe with us. Fast forward to the bar being done and the damn Pandemic is going full speed. Anyway, here is the Wine Bar from inception to completion.

The Aforementioned piece of dirt!
A different angle.
As seen from the fire pit.
Thelma and Louise really miss the dirt now.

We also added a fountain feature with a rock garden. We named the fountain Pete…..as in Pete Fountain, get it? You have to be older like us to think it is funny, anyway…..My husband and I designed the wine bar and he drew up the plans and did most of the work. Let me give a shout out to our friends Dean and Joanne Blount and Jason and Dee Dee Jaffee for their hard work.

I am getting ahead of myself though. We just finished hanging the lights the other day and now all we have to do is tile the top of the bar. We bought some Italian tile to put on top with a center tile that we brought back from Portugal (we call it Paul Lynde, the center square from Hollywood squares,….yes we are just that weird) and we will be tackling that next. Back to the beginning though…..

It begins….
Ground leveled time to lay down pavers with the Blounts.
