Chinese Food Weekend

We have always loved Chinese Food. We used to go to a little hidden restaurant in Stockton, California called China Village. We would order the same things. Hot and Sour Soup, Chicken Chow Mein (Spicy) and Shrimp ala China Village. We have moved around a lot and have tried to find a Hot and Sour Soup that came close to the one in Stockton. We looked in New York City, Los Angeles, London and here in Elk Grove where we have settled back down. We found one that is a close second at a restaurant called Happy Garden on Elk Grove Blvd. They also have very good spicy Chicken Chow Mein and a dish called Beef and Double Mushroom.

Covid has made our kitchen a very popular place for us. We Cook, Eat, Play cards, drink Wine and solve the worlds problems. So we decided one weekend to go to an awesome Asian Food Store in Sacramento called Ranch 99. It is a really fun place to go. Before the pandemic they used to have samples everywhere and that made it even more intriguing. We bought everything we needed to make those dishes. It was time consuming but very rewarding in the end and it was very tasty.

The last dish we made that weekend was a version of the Double Mushroom Beef we like.

It was a fun weekend and really, what else did we have to do? We realized the thing that is most important is to have all your ingredients ready to go, because it makes it alot easier and you really do have a sense of satisfaction when you are done.

Bon Appetit!
