Cousins Vacation #3 with Roz and Lucas

July 2026 – Around Linden/Elk Grove/Sacramento

We had Ms. Rozlin for a few days before we picked up Lucas. Lots of swimming and cooking and jigsaw puzzles and Grandma and Grandpa time with Rozzie. (This was at Dean and JoAnne’s house while we were dog and house sitting. Its always a pleasure. Its a beautiful home with a pool and more.) We picked up Lucas then went back to the Blount’s house where we were joined by Dean and JoAnne and their Daughter Amber and family which includes their Grandson Desi. 2nd Annual Pizza/Pool day.

Next on the agenda – Cornhole

Once back in Elk Grove we decided to take the kids to the Science and Curiosity Museum in Sacramento.

First was the planetarium and we sat inside and looked up at the stars. There was a docent who told us everything we needed to know about the planets and our universe and beyond. It was dark inside except for the stars luminating on the ceiling. Lucas took my hand and put his head on my shoulder. So Sweet. After the presentation we went around the exhibits inside and really enjoyed the hands on experience there.

That evening we went home and had the kids help us make Shrimp and Veggie Tempura. Really good and they enjoyed helping.

On Tuesday we took a walk down Main Street in Elk Grove. We had a mural painting contest here and we took the kids to see all the buildings. We ended up at the German Restaurant and Brewery. We each had a large pretzel and dunked them in the melted cheese. So good.

The kids made Gummy bears and played out in the back yard with our very old Toy Story sprinkler ball. The next day we went fishing and had a picnic on the Delta. We didn’t catch any fish and it turned out Lucas wasn’t a fan of fishing. Oh well, we will try again someday.

So it turns out that July is the best month for Lucas and Roz to come to Grandma and Grandpa’s house. However it is always so hot here in July. We love that Dean and JoAnne have a pool we can use but this year we also took them to the aquatic center here in Elk Grove. They had a ball.

Usually the last thing we do is exchange birthday gifts. Roz to Lucas and Lucas to Roz. This year Roz got a bracelet and necklace making kit and Lucas got a Dinosaur Head and tail.

So another successful Cousin vacation. The last thing Roz said to Lucas….”Well, see you next year!” and Lucas said “How come we only get to see each other only once a year?” I said because you live in Turlock and she lives in Los Angeles. Last year we had a special Christmas gathering with them, so maybe we can do that again. They really do love each other and we LOVE them.
