We took our new truck camping this year and piled Rozlin and Thelma and Louise into the back. That’s part of the fun I think. I remember growing up my parents put blankets, sleeping bags and what-not into the back of our Oldsmobile and my brothers and I all sat in back. In fact, I think I may have sat/laid on the back console because I was small. No seat belt concerns back then. Anyway, we arrived to our campground and started setting up the tent. Roz was a good helper.
After settling in we made dinner. The first night we had spaghetti bolognese and garlic bread. Roz said it was the best she ever had. (Also, everything tastes better when cooked outside!)
We brought fishing equipment and tried again to catch some fish but no luck. Instead we took Roz swimming in the lake and Thelma actually wanted to get in the water with her. I personally think Thelma was wanting to protect her because usually Thelma is not crazy about the water.
At this particular campground there are no showers so we made our own. Nikki got us a “Pocket Shower” and we put together a hula hoop shower. There are Hula Hoops that can break apart and we bought two, a shower curtain and pinned the bottom one with safety pins. Pretty clever I must say.
We went to the Truckee 4th for July parade and had a really good time but all good things must come to an end.
On our way home all our camp blankets and such were packed and stinky and Roz’s arms were cold so I gave her my car socks. I always carry socks in the glove compartment. So cute.
