My First Apple Harvest

As I mentioned in an earlier post our new backyard has 5 fruit trees.
We picked our first batch of apples. Our best guess is that they are Granny Smith. We were invited to see our nephew’s new home and we were in charge of dessert. We have a tried and true recipe for Apple Crisp that is my sister-in-law’s and it was perfect. Thanks Susan. The recipe is below.

Apple Crisp

6-8 Apples (Granny Smith are the best)

1/2 Cup Water

1/2 Cup Butter softened

1 Cup Flour

1/2 Cup Sugar

1/2 Cup Brown Sugar

Cinnamon

Slice Apples into a greased baking dish. 8×8 Add water and sprinkle with cinnamon. Mix flour and sugars, work butter in until crumbly. Cover apples with this topping. Bake in a 350 oven 30 – 45 minutes, or until brown. Serves 6 to 8. Serve warm or cold.
