We lived in London for two years. 2010 – 2012 It was only then that we became adventurous enough to try Indian food. Well, London is the place for that. The Indian restaurants there are just amazing.
This past weekend we were going to watch the Football playoffs and wanted to make home made Indian food. We came upon this recipe for Chicken 65. South Indian Chicken 65 is a flavor bomb! Chicken pieces are marinated with flour, spices, yogurt, egg and curry leaves. These are later fried to perfection until golden and crisp, and then tempered in oily chili sauce. Apart from being super flavorful, Chicken 65 is crisp on the outside, juicy and tender inside. When you plate the dish, squeeze some lemon juice over the rings of onions. (This little secret was told to Jon from one of his co-workers that is from India.)
If you ever ask people what is Chicken 65, you are sure to hear bizarre answers. According to Wikipedia, the dish was invented in the year 1965 by Mr. A.M. Buhari, who was then former Sheriff of Madras, now Chennai. The dish was first made and served at Hotel Buhari, Chennai as Chicken 65, since it was invented in the year 1965.

This was undoubtedly one of the most flavorful dishes I’ve ever eaten. It is shown as an appetizer but we put it over Jeera Rice. Jeera is Cumin. I couldn’t get enough of either one. Below is the recipe for the rice.
