For those of you who know me really well, I called my mother Honey. My father called her Honey, so my brothers thought that was her name and when I came along I just added to the chorus. “Honey”…. I tried one time to call her Mom, when we were shopping at a department store, I felt weird saying Honey to my Mom in a crowd, and it just didn’t feel right. Anyway, later in life she lived on a Ranch in Ripon. She had an extensive vegetable garden and she put up peppers. She would make many jars of pickled peppers. She has been gone over 10 years now and I have been replicating those peppers for the last 8 years. Some of you have asked for the recipe and I am happy to give it to you. Keep the tradition going…..this is for Honey.
Grow Peppers. (I buy the plants from Bruno’s Peppers on Ham Road in Lodi) They are just called Wax Peppers.
Buy Mason Jars.
Put a BIG pot of water to boil. Immerse the jars, lids and seals. Boil for 10 minutes to sterlize.
Remove the Jars, very carefully.
Add the peeled garlic cloves to the jars. (about 4 or 5) Add the Peppers.
Fill the jar with Regular Ol’ White Vinegar.
Seal. Mark the date on top of the jar.
Store in the cupboard or on the counter. Wait 6 weeks. (the hardest part)
Then open and enjoy.
So there you are my friends and family. Mystery is solved. Not hard to do, just make it with love.
