(Backstage Vantage Point)
When we lived in London it was during the time that the Olympics were going to take place. I really wanted to get tickets to see the opening ceremony, but sadly they were already sold out. So……I decided, if I cant see them I’ll audition for them. I got on a bus, train, the underground and another bus and went to the audition. I made call-backs and got cast. The great Danny Boyle was slated to direct. What an adventure. I was in the Industrial Revolution section. We were tasked to the middle of the stadium to pull up the sod that was placed and then return to a choreographed movement of workers making the 5 Rings of the Olympics and setting them on fire.
We rehearsed for 3 months and most of it was in the rain and or gray skies, it was after all London. I met some wonderful people from all over the world. The only requirement is that you lived in London and that you could move well and take direction. Here are some of those folks.
Memories of hard work, and a lifetime of friendships once again prove that creativity can bring people of all backgrounds together for a common goal. Art!
Cheers!
