Camping at New Brighton Beach

So our camping trip to New Brighton Beach changed a number of times due to the fires in Northern California. We arrived and set up our tent, which for some reason did not go smoothly, but we were ready for some well deserved arrival snacks and a glass of vino. The air quality was not very good because of the fires but we were enjoying being out of the 100’s of the valley. Cool, Coastal Air. Yes.

We went for a walk after snacking and before dinner to check out the rest of the campground. There is a very nice trail down to the ocean and lots of beautiful trees and berry bushes to see.

We got back to our campsite, made dinner and we were doing our clean-up when the campground police (we call them 5 0) came to talk to us. Because of the fires we were asked to please leave the next morning by 11 a.m. so that the evacuees could stay at the campground. So, we were disappointed for us, but were more than happy to vacate our spot for the people who needed a safe place to stay. The next morning we took Thelma and Louise down to the ocean for a walk and some most needed ocean calm.

We will be back. Every summer as a child and even when my kids were little we would go to this area. My peaceful spot.
