Cabo San Lucas 2014

We decided to celebrate my husbands 50th birthday with a trip to Cabo San Lucas. We rented a villa there, again with VRBO. http://www.vrbo.com This was back in 2014.

Espresso Martini and oh yeah, a pool.

We had done some research on what to do there besides the obvious, beach, cook, eat and drink. We found the Amazing Cabo Race. http://www.amazeincaborace.com It is a moderate race lasting for 3 to 4 hours and was alot of fun. You need to come up with a team name and we were the Tequila Mockingbirds.

Dee Dee made these adorable shirts.
Prior to the race beginning, getting all the rules etc.

So in the race you trek all around Cabo and get clues at each location as to where your next stop will be, alot like the reality show on t.v. One stop we had to eat crickets. I know, ew gross, but they were dead and crunchy so, not so bad. One of the clues had us go to the marina and board these boats and once we got to the specific cove, we had to jump off and dig through the sand to find our next clue. (Tip: where comfortable shoes for walking but ones you don’t care about walking in afterwards wet!)

The Marina

So we didn’t win but I think we maybe came in at the middle of the pack. We sure had fun. We also did the Amazing Cabo Bar Crawl. http://www.amazingcabobarcrawl.com Good, something we know something about.

This Bar Crawl was similar to the race in that we had to go to different locations to get a clue as to what bar was next. We were doing just fine and in fact ahead until the birthday boy got a “Brain Freeze” on one of the challenges.

Yum!

We also got the help of some of the town’s young locals who wanted to make a few extra bucks…..we obliged, however we decided we wanted to win on our own and let them go after a few stops. At one bar they hung Jon upside down and they saved the best challenge for last. Jon had to do a Pole Dance on top of the bar. I must say he was pretty good.

Way to Rock “50” honey.

We took a cooking class in Cabo as well. https://www.inspirock.com/mexico/cabo-san-lucas/casa-de-colores-school-of-traditional-mexican-cooking-a382859837

Our Chef’s name was Donna and she was very knowledgeable. She lived there and had studied all the different types of Mexican Cuisine.

There’s Donna, smack dab in the middle.

We did go out for a few dinners in Cabo and one restaurant people recommended was Maro’s Shrimp House.

The Bull Dog came highly recommended by my niece Kristi.

We had a fantastic dinner at Maro’s in Cabo. The Shrimp and Lobster were delicious and the entertainment was great. The Bull Dog drink and the “bump and grind” that came with it was awesome.

So we had our own private beach that was included with the villa that we rented. It was just a five minute walk from our place. Oh, it was fabulous.

Beautiful Beach.

Cabo in May is muy bueno……great trip.
