Lake Amador is maybe 45 minutes from our house. The pros to that is that it is so close that if we needed to be home it won’t take long. The cons to that is that the weather is basically the same. According to me…..don’t go there in July. We, Jon and I and the our two dogs, spent a good portion of the time sitting in our car with the air conditioner on. However, as in anywhere in the valley, the night time was exquisite. We would get up early try to catch fish, give up and take the girls for a walk. Pretty much after one o’clock it was so hot that it was miserable. One thing that is a plus is that there are free showers…..and in my book that is a huge plus. We have 2 or 3 favorite campsites and most of them are right on the water. Beautiful views. Our favorites are 30, 31 and 38.

They also have Frisbee golf and a really good cafe at the Lodge.
